As we have established, I am not a fancy person. I tend to be simple, I like a touch of rustic in my decor and I've never been one to pull off pretentious looks when it comes to decor. I love our living room. It looks and feels very grand but since we've moved here I have always made an effort to make sure it never feels too formal or grand to snuggle up with a good book or with friends for casual conversation.
I've pulled in many imperfect, vintage pieces, cozy blankets and pillows and casual elements to give it a more casual vibe. For some reason, when I started pulling out Christmas decor (okay, let's be real, buying Christmas decor), I chose all of these glitz and glam ornaments. I started decorating my trees and HATED it. It wasn't me. It was pretty, but it felt stuffy and just not us. I pulled it all off of the trees, re-packed the ornaments and returned it all. I then pulled out my old "farmhouse" decorations, pinecones, kept a few of the neutral "glam" ornaments and created an eclectic but perfect fancy/casual woodland vibe.
I originally planned to use jewel tones, but at the end of the day I'm more of a neutral girl and I think that's why I love this look so much - simple, neutral, pretty and cozy. My friend Dixie captured the details so well. I can't wait to hear what your favorite part is!

The mantle was pulled together with a strand of cheap green garland, these amazing copper twinkle lights from Lowes, gold and green magnolia leaves from Michaels, a few pine and berry picks from Hobby Lobby, and a mix of glam gold beads found at a garage sale and a strand of wood beads from Walmart.

I absolutely love these stars from Target! They go perfectly with the tree toppers we found at Hobby Lobby.

The ornaments are a mix found at: AtHome, Hobby Lobby and Walmart. The massive pine cones were found at a garage sale - I think they were the perfect added natural element to create texture, movement and a touch of rustic. The tree skirt is from Hobby Lobby.

Of course I had to add a little touch of Christmas to our beloved grandfather clock.

This is the side of the living room that I don't show as much. I love these doors and I'm so glad we found a spot for them in our home. Of course, I had to add a little touch of Christmas to the magnolia wreaths. I normally add red berries to them at Christmas but this year I went with gold berry picks to tie into the trees.

I hope you enjoyed the Christmas living room tour with us! Thanks for stopping by!
