It's the weekend after Thanksgiving, the time of year when everyone really starts busting out the Christmas decor! I love seeing everyones decorations, the magical festive feel of the holidays and the warm twinkle of Christmas lights shining through everyone's windows. I thought I would share some of our previous Christmas decor as a little inspiration.
One thing I loved about our little 1,300 sq ft farmhouse was how fun and easy it was to make that tiny space become totally magical with Christmas decor! When I first started purchasing Christmas decor I was really inspired by the cute little bottle brush trees. There are so many things you can do with them to make vignettes feel like a winter wonderland. They were my inspiration for my kitchen and dining decor.

That cute little red truck platter came from Big Lots and I noticed they still had that collection available this year. There are so many cute serving pieces available and I love that they are ceramic - they look and feel like decent quality. Super fun and affordable to decorate with!

Does that platter look familiar?! I'm telling you, when I see a cute and affordable set of decorative dishes I go all in!! Another tip I have for making affordable Christmas vignettes is to add "snow" you can purchase rolls of cotton almost anywhere to make this happen or purchase the loose, more glittery looking snow. I used to mix the two together but with two toddlers in the house I just use the cotton rolls for my own sanity.

Once I decided on the red truck/tree farm theme, I started looking for little red trucks to incorporate into our decor and they were so easy to find! I found this little truck and the camper below at Dirt Cheap. If you don't have a local Dirt Cheap (I'm sorry) but you might check Target. This is such a fun theme if you have kids too - Keller's little mind is always imagining snowy camping trips when he looks at this cute set-up.

Here is another fun way I used the "snow" - it is actually covering up the base of the tree to raise it up to the height we needed it to be. This tree (from Walmart) was actually a little short for the space, but it was in our budget so we made it work by adding some height.

There's absolutely nothing fancy or special to this tree but it added a warm twinkle and texture to this corner of our dining room which is exactly what we wanted!

I hope you got some inspiration from these affordable Christmas decorating tips! I'd love to see how you style your bottle brush trees and let me know if you are able to grab the cute little red trucks anywhere!
Warm Christmas Wishes!
Hillary
