Editing this blog post that has been sitting in my drafts for two months now to say... I'm posting this super late. Maybe I'll do better next year!
I have found that I am more of an outdoor seasonal decorator when it comes to fall decor. Christmas is a different story, but we will talk about that when the season comes!
I always start out fall decor with our front porch which naturally means I buy pumpkins as soon as I see them out. I love to purchase them locally and this year all of our local produce stores and plant farms had the cutest little pumpkin set-ups! It was so inspiring for me!
I had a vision of pumpkins pouring off of both sides of our front porch and I tried it but it just didn't look right on our porch. Our stair opening was a bit too narrow to make it really work. It looked super cluttered and didn't leave a lot of room for people to walk up our stairs. Instead of pumpkin overload I went with my three favorite pumpkins and made it super simple. It is honestly probably my favorite fall porch to - date. Sometimes simplicity is key!

We have a cute little stoup at our back door which is the door we use the most. I wasn't originally planning to load it down with pumpkins since it is a high traffic area but I drug my leftover pumpkins from the front porch to the back and the pumpkins spilling down the stairs ended up working out perfect back there!

I later found this cute ghost pottery and added it to the collection.

Inside, the main areas I've been focusing on when it comes to seasonal decor are the downstairs spaces that don't need renovations: the dining room, living room and entry way.

I've never had an entry way to decorate before so I honestly overlooked it until I was carrying the fall decor I didn't use back to storage and realized I could spruce the space up. I plan to do more with this space for Christmas but it has a very cozy fall vibe for now.
I had an absolute blast creating a dramatic centerpiece in our dining room! I have always wanted to do something like this but we've never had a table big enough. I created a moody/romantic table scape using a mix of mercury glass pumpkins, real pumpkins and guards and tea light candles . It would be perfect for a Thanksgiving feast!

As for the living room, I really surprised myself with what I decided to do in there! I'm not huge on Halloween. I get anxiety over picking out costumes for my kids, trick-or-treating is kind of exhausting and I don't like spooky things so that really isn't the best equation for being super pumped about Halloween. With that being said, I've never been big on Halloween decor. I have nothing against it just not really my thing. Years ago when I had a booth at a flea market, I painted these witches hats to have something season in my booth. I didn't sell them and I've just hung onto them for all of these years. I actually considered throwing them away or selling them when we moved but I just kept hanging onto them. One night, I had the idea to use them on my mantle and it morphed into this entire "spooky witch" theme for the living room.

I'm already looking forward to decorating our home for fall next year! This home definitely lends itself to fall decor and I am here for it!
