My blog has been on my heart lately... I know that sounds weird but I really love writing here. It is such a fun creative outlet for me and my creativity is actually fueled by writing. Often times when I find myself in a creative rut, I notice my mind lingering towards this space, so I’m pushing myself to pick it back up! The entire reason I started blogging was to share our renovation story (because it's far too long to fit in IG captions!). Long story short, the renovation took a turn for the absolute worst in more than one way and I became overwhelmed and discouraged and had nothing good to say about it SO I didn’t write about much of it until after the fact. Even then, I only shared transformed spaces and didn’t reveal the story behind the transformation. Three years later and I think I’m over the trauma enough to talk about it! I think it’s important to share the reality of home renovations and the things to look out for in old homes, selecting supplies, choosing contractors, and so forth. It's no Fixer Upper episode is all I can say! At least it wasn't for us... We have a deep love for old homes, an eye for design and we felt like we knew enough about remodeling that it would be no problem! While we learned SO many lessons from this remodel, I know we still have a lot to learn. Being a homeowner and working on homes is one of those things where you are always learning something new which I love. Stick around and I promise to share the good, the bad, and the very ugly from the lessons we’ve learned. Have you ever renovated or built a home? If so, I’d love to hear your number one piece of advice you would give to a first-timer!
