A month after things went south

Things went south at the end of April. Baby Keller was due June 17th. We had to pick our heads and feet up and put it in HIGH gear if we were going to move in before our baby was born. If you asked me, I was not bringing Keller "home" anywhere but here no matter if we had a front door and windows on the house or not!

One month later, we moved in. Here's what the house looked like at that point:

Back yard view. Windows and back door are installed!

Windows!!! We have windows and a door! If you read my last blog post then you know this is BIG! We paid for these windows TWICE! Well worth the money, sweat and tears. This ended up being our favorite room of the entire house.

The front of the house certainly looks better now but I was just happy to see windows and a door at the time!

Ahhh! Having just a bed frame already makes this front bedroom feel more like a home! It only took my mom and I a couple of hours one afternoon to totally finish this room!

The final product! This is now Lola's room and looks totally different but I love looking back at how it was styled as a guest room.

The living room was the very first room we pulled together. I am a big believer in putting together your main living spaces first as that is where everyone in the family spend the majority of the time! Plus you can almost immediately have guest over without your house feeling like a giant moving box.

Next we put together our room. I think it is equally important to make the space you sleep in comfy and cozy.

Next we started working on our tiny nursery because... well... nesting. I was ready to get that nursery together to bring our baby home!

My mom came and helped me work on pulling together the kitchen and other spaces. I was cracking up looking back at these because now I can't keep near this much stuff out! My kids would destroy it and now I'm used to a more simplistic style.

Notice no countertops just yet! and also the really low quality photos! We got those in about a month after living in the house! I wasn't super into documenting just yet because I wasn't excited and inspired about the space at this point.

All I see in this picture is really dark floors, no countertops and a missing cabinet door! Our floors have lightened up over time and I like them so much better now than how dark they are in this picture.

Third time is a charm on tile work! Not sure why this photo looks wavy but it's the only one I have of the bathroom when we first moved in! I was and still am so proud of this bathroom after all we went through with it!

The banquet on the sunporch. So cozy even though it wasn't finished or painted just yet.

The main reason I wanted to share this is to remind everyone and myself that your home doesn't have to be "finished" or perfect to be cozy and feel like home. I still remember bringing Keller home here when our house was in this state and it immediately felt like home when we brought him here. After all, home is simply wherever your family is.
